Merge 2048 puts two decisions together: which direction improves the number board, and which arm command expresses that direction. Plan the board move first. Raising an arm more quickly does not make a poor merge decision better.
Map the four directions to arm poses
| Board direction | Control | First check |
|---|---|---|
| Left or right | Side arm raise for the corresponding direction | Keep both arms distinguishable in the camera preview |
| Up | Raise both arms overhead | Leave headroom in the camera frame |
| Down | Cross arms low | Keep the low pose visible rather than below the frame |
Hold the intended pose briefly for recognition; the game’s tutorial suggests about half a second. Watch the feedback and board animation before trying the next command. Timing and framing affect recognition, so treat the feedback as the check that your instruction arrived.
Read a possible merge before moving
- Find matching numbers that might meet when the board shifts.
- Imagine the whole row or column sliding, including tiles that do not merge.
- Check where larger numbers will end up and what empty space remains.
- Choose the direction, make its arm command and inspect the resulting board.
The important distinction is a whole-board direction rather than selecting one tile. Moving toward a matching pair can also shift other rows into an awkward arrangement. Compare the complete result, not just the merge you first noticed.
Practice a corner plan without treating it as a promise
Try keeping a large tile toward one corner while making smaller merges nearby. Before each move, ask whether it will pull that tile away or block the surrounding space. A corner plan gives you a consistent question to evaluate; it does not guarantee a particular score or a winning board.
Your first challenge can be one intentional merge followed by an explanation of the remaining space. Once directions feel reliable, try a longer sequence. This is a personal practice idea, not a separate level or reward.
Separate an unrecognized command from a bad move
If the board does not move, check the pose feedback, whether an animation is still settling, and whether that direction can change the current board. Repeating a pose while the board is busy is different from deciding on a new move. Let the feedback settle and make another deliberate command.
For the full-body frame needed by overhead and low poses, use the camera setup guide. The movement-footprint guide helps you check arm clearance; this game is not automatically a seated or tiny-space option.
Compare two kinds of merging
Merge 2048 uses directional board shifts. Fruit Stack instead asks you to choose a matching crate and commit to a drop. For selecting and moving a single target with a pinch, compare Bus Queue. The puzzle and casual guide helps you choose the decision and movement you prefer.

Merge 2048
Combine matching numbers using arm poses instead of arrow keys. Plan where the next merge will happen.
Controls: Side raise for left/right; overhead arms for up; low cross for down.
First-round idea: Make a deliberate merge while keeping a corner available.
