Freeze and pose games ask a player to match a body shape or hold an action until the game responds. For pose matching on MovePlay, start with AwkwardPoseStudio. For a more demanding hold-and-jump task, LilyPadJump uses a held stance to charge before a jump. These are different movement demands, not interchangeable gentle activities.
Pose matching and held stances
| Game | Task | Important difference |
|---|---|---|
| AwkwardPoseStudio | Match the displayed body silhouette within a short time window. | The timed challenge can require rapid full-body repositioning. It is not automatically a relaxed or seated activity. |
| LilyPadJump | Hold a horse stance to charge, then jump to another lily pad. | Includes sustained leg effort and an upward action; it should not be described as a low-impact freeze game. |
Arm-command puzzle games use a different success rule from timed shape matching. Head aiming, shoulder steering and hand commands also have different rules; use the hand-tracking category when full-body poses do not fit your space or preferences.
Set the camera and the movement boundary
- Check which body parts the tutorial requires, then position the camera so they remain visible.
- Demonstrate one pose at a comfortable range before starting a timed round.
- Clear space in all directions the pose uses. For a jumping title, also check the landing area and floor.
- Stop or switch games when a pose is uncomfortable; matching a silhouette is not a reason to push through a movement restriction.
Framing and lighting influence recognition. Read the setup guide if the body guide is incomplete or a pose is not registering.
Using pose play with children or groups
Let one willing player try a round while others watch or call the next cue. An adult should check movement difficulty and the camera frame before a child plays. Watching and choosing another activity are valid options; there is no universal age or flexibility guarantee.
Privacy, access and interpretation
Motion-input camera frames are processed locally. Check the privacy policy for account and session data, and the hub for current free access. A pose-game score reflects the game task and tracking conditions, not a clinical measure of posture, mobility or balance.
Common questions
Do all pose games work seated?
No. Choose by the actual movement. Full-body silhouettes and jumping tasks differ from a head- or hand-led game that you can test while seated.
Do I need to copy every pose perfectly?
Follow the tutorial and recognition guide, but avoid uncomfortable positions. Choose another game if the expected movement does not fit you.
Is holding a stance always low impact?
No. A sustained stance can be demanding, and LilyPadJump also uses a jump. Consider the entire round rather than one input.
